Foster Grandparents Program (FGP)

Determine how many hours you can serve, between 15 and 40 hours per week. You must be 55 years of age or older. Talk to a Staff member to help you decide what kind of role matches your interests.

Foster Grandparents help:

  • Early Head Starts or Head Start Programs
  • Public Schools K-12
  • Boys and Girls Club Centers
  • Become a mentor and positive role model for children
  • Help children to read, write numbers and letters
  • Improve educational outcomes
  • Give (TLC) Tender Loving Care

West Texas Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (WTRSVP)

The AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program pairs thousands of Americans ages 55 and older with community organizations across the country. Volunteers choose how, where, and when they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours a week to 40 hours per week. You decide! You have a lifetime of experience, interest and skills to share with your community. What's holding you back? Senior Companion Program (SCP)

Determine how many hours you can serve, between 15 and 40 hours per week. You must be 55 years of age or older. Talk to a Staff member to help you decide what kind of role matches your interests.

Senior Companions typically focus on:

  • Serving seniors who are lonely and need someone to talk to
  • Preparing light meals
  • Walking or low impact exercises with their senior
  • Reminding your senior to take their medications
  • Playing games, watching TV and simply being a good listener to your senior
